The Silberschnitt brand of cutters and pliers began in 1923. A German locksmith, Josef Bohle started the production of glass cutting wheels made of hardened steel, which he later installed into his own glass cutters. The silvery fissure that the wheels left on the glass was the reason why he called his glass cutter SILBERSCHNITT (silver cut).
Over time, the product range was expanded to include other models of glass cutters, circle and strip cutters and glass breaking pliers. The name SILBERSCHNITT is known for quality and innovation and has become the most sold glass cutter in the world.
