Beginning Stained Glass, Copper Foil Method

Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm  (Class continues once a week for FIVE weeks)

Tuition: $125 plus supplies ($105) and glass (approximately $50 - $70)

Stained Glass has been a cherished art form for more than 1000 years.   Traditionally, apprentices trained under proficient craftsmen to learn the trade.

In the 21st century, up-to-date tools make it easy to learn the rewarding craft of stained glass.  During this hands-on class, you will learn all the skills necessary to complete a stained glass panel using the copper foil technique that was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany.  Each student will complete a 9" x 14" panel, including framing with a rigid metal frame.

Every class session is filled with fun as you learn to select glass, cut & fit, foil, solder, frame and polish your artwork.  We don't have to teach you to admire it and beam with pride; that comes naturally!   

This is a five-week course teaching you the copper foil method of stained glass construction.

Each student will purchase their own glass and a Goody Bag of supplies needed to complete the class.  You will use our tools.  You can expect to spend about $150 - $170 in addition to the tuition.

Please remember you must visit Harmony BEFORE the first day of class to select and prepare your pattern.

You can select your glass before class starts or during the week between week one and two.  Allow at least an hour and come during daylight hours.  You MUST have your glass purchased before class two starts.

Please bring or purchase safety glasses on the first day of class; Always wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to class.

If you miss a class,  a “Make-up” session is necessary.  It needs to be scheduled during normal business hours when a teacher is available, and completed BEFORE the next regular class meeting.  There will be an additional fee of $45 for each make-up session required.  Class 1 is not available for a make-up session.  If you will miss class 1, please don't register for this class. 

We require that you purchase your class tools and supplies here at Harmony.  By doing so, you help ensure that your local stained glass store will be here as a place for fun and learning for many years to come.

FINE PRINT - Terms apply to all classes at Harmony Stained Glass. As a courtesy to others, please read and comply.

 1. Your class will start on time.  Please be on time and prepared.  Please put your phone on silent so that it won’t disrupt the class.

2. Payment is required when you register for a class. When you register, we reserve that space and purchase supplies for you. Seven days advance notice is required to cancel. With 7 days notice, you will receive store credit for your tuition.  Otherwise, you will forfeit the tuition.  Classes with guest artists are never refundable unless we can fill your space.  To cover PayPal / credit card fees, a $25 processing fee will apply to any refund issued on a guest artist class.

3. In the event of a class cancellation by Harmony, you will receive a full refund.  

4. Class participants must be at least 13 years of age unless specified otherwise in the class description. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a participating (registered and paid) guardian.  No one under the age of 18 is permitted in Adult Recess classes.

5. Participants give permission for Harmony Stained Glass to take and use photographs which may include their image or artwork.

6. Please bring Safety Glasses (Available for purchase at Harmony Stained Glass) and Wear Closed Toe Shoes.

7.  Everyone who is present for a class must be enrolled in that class.

8.  If the class is "plus supplies", only supplies purchased at Harmony are permitted.
